Cookie Policy
The browser technologies used to deliver the website and keep access to your university account secure.
What cookies are
Cookies are small files a website or its service providers store in your browser. They can maintain a sign-in session or support security checks. Browser caching stores files such as images and fonts so pages can load efficiently. These technologies are distinct from registration records stored on Element’s servers.
How this website uses browser technologies
| Category | Purpose | Use on this site |
|---|---|---|
| Sign-in and access | Identify an authenticated session and control access to the portal. | The hosting and ChatGPT services manage their own sessions. When the new login methods are enabled, Element uses HttpOnly session cookies (up to seven days), a PKCE verification cookie (up to one hour), a recovery authorization cookie (ten minutes), and a sign-out preference (seven days). These are essential for secure login. |
| Security | Help protect access and prevent abusive requests. | Hosting and authentication services may use essential security technologies. |
| Browser cache | Load page assets, images and fonts efficiently. | Controlled by your browser and the response settings of each asset provider. |
| Element advertising and analytics | Advertising profiles or optional audience measurement. | No advertising pixels or optional analytics trackers are installed by the Element application in this version. |
Element does not store registration records, national IDs or medical documents in browser local storage. Signing out or clearing cookies does not delete records already submitted to Element.
Third-party services
Supabase authentication, Google sign-in, ChatGPT sign-in and the hosting platform manage their own cookies and related technologies. Their behaviour can differ from the Element application. See OpenAI’s Cookie Notice for its practices. The site also requests fonts from Google; serving these files involves connection information such as your IP address. See Google Fonts privacy information.
Your browser controls
You can inspect, remove or block cookies and cached files through your browser’s privacy or site-data settings. You can also sign out of the university portal. Blocking essential authentication cookies may prevent sign-in or access to private features. Browser controls apply to that browser and device; you may need to repeat your choices elsewhere.
Optional technologies and updates
There are currently no optional Element tracking categories to enable or disable on this site. If Element introduces optional analytics or marketing technologies, this policy and any required choice mechanism must be updated before those technologies are used. The date below identifies this version of the policy.
Questions
Contact the Element organising team through University Portal → Messages. Players can also ask their university representative to forward a request. Include your registration reference where relevant, but do not put national IDs or medical documents in a general message. Element may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
For information about registration records, see the Privacy Policy.
